Today's writing went better because it was mainly description of what was happening. Apparently I am totally sucking at the Let's Have an Argument part of dialogue writing, which made yesterday hell. But today was all about starting the invasion, getting everyone set up with their guns and at their posts. I'm only a bit worried that I'm taking too long to get Kezef in the picture - 57%, yo, and he's still not at the gate taunting folk and stealing them away.

Anyway, am tired, so alas, no Castle because sleep is ftw. On the plus side, Mom bought caffeinated coffee (we usually take decaf) so my mornings might have a bit more pep than what they've had these past few days.

The site was surprisingly quiet for such a bustling crowd. Words were few and direct, used only when hand motions – some looking like they came right out of an action film – were insufficient. The siren had been turned off before Chip and the others even started running towards the gate. Most of the noise came from hands slapping guns or loading bullets, feet running down dirt paths, bodies crawling up chain-link fences and onto cars. The sounds came across loud and harsh in the relative silence, like the pump of a shotgun in the dark.

Sometimes a single shot would ring out, shattering the silence. Everyone would freeze for a split second at the sound, trying to pinpoint where the shot came from and, more importantly, where it was headed.
