I'd done nothing all day but write my Nano, which means I now have a one-day buffer. (And I might write more before I sleep! The maddness!) This is good. You know what else is good? The massive amounts of squee that writing Nano is giving me. I just want to hug my characters. Darlings, it's been so long! (I'm so glad I posted a character and plot summary for Time for Something Biblical that I could use because if I had to try and remember, or worse, flip through and find details like what kind of car Chip drove or what colour Icarus' polo was, I'd die.) And I so totally know where I'm going, at least for now.

“He’s not infected,” whispered Chip, although he too had stepped back from the fence and raised his weapon.

“He is,” hissed Adelle. She gave another whistle – this one had two notes and had a more urgent sound than the others. Somewhere close by, Julian whistled back.

“How are you, Adelle, dearest?” asked the man. “It’s been a while.”

“Go to hell,” spat Adelle.

“It’s kind of empty at the moment. No fun at all.” The man moved closer to the fence, his face almost touching it. “I’d much rather play up here with you.”

“You can play with the dead.”

“They’re not so bad. You know, this one, for example,” the man gestured to his suit, “it’s quite nice. But I really liked what I had on when we met.”

The rifle in Adelle’s hands trembled, but she said nothing.
