Job Hunt: Nothing, save for one laboratory job in Scotland which, while obviously in the biochem' or phrama' side of science, takes biologists and gives training, although they'd prefer industrial experience. Still, it's worth a shot, so I'll see about a cover letter and panicking over all that this weekend. I've compiled a list of environmental organizations I've yet to go through, as well as a list of all the zoos in the Netherlands. Yay research.
Life: There was crying and staring of the computer screen. Food was obtained and a walk was taken. Better than yesterday, then.
Fandom: Supernatural returned from its hiatus and it was so nice to see the boys again. As for the episode, I found it pretty meh - entertaining with good comedy and angst, but a bit weak in the plot. Also, am surprised to find that I missed Castiel.
On that note, a have a little fist-shakin' dance to do. Whilst in Kenya, Willy and I were marathoning Supernatural - I'd brought the whole season with me on a whim and Willy loved it. Naturally, we pushed the show onto the boys - well, squeed about it - but both scoffed at it and put us down without even giving the Winchesters a chance.
Well, round about late November or early December, Willy told me that her beau had started watching the show and was all a-squee over it. We both high-fived and shook our heads at the same time. Then lurking around on Facebook - as I do every few months or so - I found that my ex-beau had also gotten the Winchester-bug. Booyah! I feel so vindicated. Making fun of a show - and making fun of people for liking the show - without knowing what it is isn't cool, but then loving the show - that has a delicious sort of irony.**
Speaking of the horror genre where your mileage may vary (I mean, SPN has some scary episodes, but it certainly doesn't twitch my fear-radar every week even a little), I'm going to watch Nightmare on Elm Street tonight.
Now, I know this film has traumatized a load of people - and I can see why. (If you can't, just listen to
made_of_fail_pc's Episode Nine: Do You Believe In the Boogeyman? OR: What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?.) But I don't know whether I'll be affected beyond the typical first night of panic under the covers, particularly considering how little Paranormal Activity affected me. But then, I can't read Threshold (lovelovelove) without freaking out, and Doctor Who's "Blink", The Candyman (and it's Supernatural version) made me jumpy liek woah. Well, we'll see how it goes.

Day 01 → Your favorite song
I don't do favorites. Not ultimate favorites. So instead, I'm going to link to three die-hard life-long favorite songs of mine in no particular order.
Cat Stevens - Moonshadow - My parents had a tape of Teaser and the Firecat (which I have now appropriated). I played the hell out of that tape ever since I can remember. I danced around to Moonshadow when I was seven, and even at that age it was already old, classic favorite of mine. I've gone on with my love of Cat Stevens music, but Moonshadow is it.
Queen - The Hitman - Another much-played tape from my wee years. We'd play this tape in the car over and over and over... Picking a favorite Queen song is a bit like picking a favorite kitten, but Hitman is such an absolutely amazing rock song that I can't help shimmying around to it. Trouble in the east, trouble in the west... My love for Queen continues :)
Joan Manuel Serrat - Cantares - Another tape that got so much play during my childhood it's amazing it still works, this live rendition of the most famous poem by famed Antonio Machado, is beautiful.
And the song itself, poem that it is, is a beautiful guide to life (horrendously translated by myself): Wanderer, your footprints are the path, and nothing more. Wanderer, there is no path, it is made while you walk. Walking, you make your path and, turning to glance behind you, you see the path that must never again be tread. Wanderer, there is no path, but wakes in the sea.
Honourable mention: The entirety of U2's The Joshua Tree. Best. Album. Ever.
