Nano: We're winding down, guys! I guess all that's left is for Chip and the guys to see what life at the resistance camp is like and then for Icarus to be whisked away by Not-Dean. Also, Chuck will say hi. "Charles, this is...Charles." "Chip." "Chuck."

ETA: Once this is finished, I'm not only making front and back covers for it (why yes, I procrastinate by looking for appropriate pictures), as well as a blurb and any squee y'all might want to fake, but I'm also going to make the novel illustrated. Like, picspam the hell out of it. Then PDF everything. Then bask.

Harper glanced up questioningly at the men. Saunders shook his head sadly.

“Alright,” she said, flashing a brilliant smile at Agatha. “There’s another paper I need you to fill out then.” She flipped through the ones on her desk and took out one with a short list. “Just write your name and that of your mom – ignore this column here, that’s for dads – and your age right there.” As Agatha wrote her age – twelve, so Chip had been right in his guess – Harper’s smile cracked a little.

“Okay then,” she said, putting everything away except for the paper she’d been scanning back into the drawers. “There’s room for you in the Big Elk house.” At Saunders and Chip’s confused looks, she shrugged. “This place use to be a summer camp. Come on, let me show you the way.”

The long day finally ended in a red-painted cabin and two bedrooms. By this time the night was also well on its way to being over and although Harper was trying to fill them in on a few things about the camp, she soon gave up in the face of their exhaustion and left them alone. Instantly, Agatha crawled into her bed with shoes, sweater and all, while Saunders simply lay on top of the bed sheets and dropped the baseball bat on the floor. In the other room Harper had given them, Chip and Icarus stood on either side of the single twin-size bed.

“This may be more awkward in the morning, when I have the energy to care,” said Chip finally, and he kicked off his shoes and crawled under the covers. After a few minutes, Icarus did the same.
