I went to Canada this summer (July 25 - August 16) to visit my folks in Toronto. We went to Niagara Falls, New York and Montreal. Here's some photos from Toronto's Edwards Gardens (North District).

Grass onna roof!

I adore vine-covered walls.

This spot is a favorite for ducks.

This is what strong rains do to bridges.

This is what erosion does to river banks. (Cameo appearance by Mom.)

Fishies!

Weird plant!

Weird tree!

Awesome tree!

Yours, you say? Does it have your name on it?

Someone was awesome, while two someone's just wanted their names onna slab.

The mystery tree appears to be a red spruce, although it's tough to be certain from the photograph. It looks red sprucey, though. Yeah, it's a seriously weird looking species. They look like someone assembled a tree out of Jenga blocks.

Damn. Nevermind, it's the less obscure but more interesting jack pine.

The mystery plant is some sort of Clamatis spp., but I confess I had to ask someone.

I bow before your and your Someone's botanical knowledge. I must admit that, while through reading I know lots of plant names, I have no idea half the time what they refer to. But! Now I know what a jack pine looks like, even if it is a bizarre specimen.
