*swoon*

So yesterday I think I actually fainted.

Let me explain:

Thursday night sucked because I couldn´t sleep, what with the on-coming cold. Friday announced itself with a combo: cold and cramps. Yes, yours truly got the friggin´ jackpot. I spent the day at MCarmen´s, getting up to a measly 37-odd degrees in the evening.

Saturday I woke up late, having entered into that coma-like sleep of those with colds. Took the train to Cubelles, said hi to my other uncle, Pablo, who´s come to visit.

I was feeling dandy all through lunch. Just a bit stuffy-headed. Then the cramps started sneaking in, mild at first. Since I wasn´t feeling quite up to fighting the cramps, I went upstairs to the bathroom. (Dunno why, but feel better inside a bathroom when I have cramps. There´s all sorts of options there. Hot water, cold water, cold floor...)

And then WHAM, the Cramps from Hell.

Now these aren´t the apocalyptic cramps I´ve had three or four other times in my life, the kind of cramps you refer to as, "the cramps of ´98" like it was some kind of war. Those cramps are slow to come and slow to go and leave me sobbing in a corner.

The usual cramps are just a crushing pain in my knees and lower abdomen.

The Apocalytic Cramps have caused dimness of vision, buzzing in my ears, vague sense of pressure - not nausea exactly - at the base of my throat, hot and cold chills, tingling sensations varying in extension, from hands and arms to face and even teeth - having your teeth tingle like there´s ants on ém is something to experiece alright - and the momentary lapse into religion, if only to have someone to blame and beg.

These? Not so much with the pain, but I got all dizzy all of the sudden and my vision started to go dim and kinda polka-dotted. Hearing started to go a bit too.

I wasn´t too concerned seeing how I´ve had these symptoms before, with the Apocalyptic Cramps.

So I went down the stairs to the kitchen to ask Ana for an analgesic. I sat down because, hey, vision thingy, and not feeling so good. Then something happened, I don´t quite remember, I think I stood up and took a few steps. Only I couldn´t see and I was bumping into something (turned out to be the wall) and I think I stumbled too. Ana and Cesar sat me down and got me to put my head between my knees. I must´ve bit my lip because there´s blood in my mouth and I couldnt really see anything.

I sat there for a while until I literally got my senses back, then sat up.

Then I´m thinking about some plot hole, figuring everything out, planning and everything, like I do when I´m falling asleep. Felt like a long time, too, like I was asleep in my bed.

And suddenly Ana´s talking to me and I open my eyes, realizing that I´m not so much leaning on a pillow as leaning my head on her arm. Broke out in a clammy sweat.

So yeah, fainted.

Ana helped me upstairs, gave me the analgesis, and I lay down for the rest of the afternoon. My knees still ached like billy-o and my hands and arms were still tingling, alterantively hot and cold, the occasional cramp making me squirm a bit.

Then I slept.

Feel just fine now. And while I may never have fainted, I´ve had this and worse before, so I´m not terribly concerned. (Alright, not at all concerned, just concerned because others are concered.) I know that this summer I had my blood pressure on the low side. I´m eating fine (hell, better than past Finals season´s). I figure it was a combination of various things, like the cold, mild fever, walking down a flight of stairs when I shouldn´t´ve...

But everyone else is concerned and want me to go to the doctor´s. Sigh.
