Well, today kind of sucked a bit. I'd planned to go to Katwijk (Flickr!) but it rained all morning, so I thought maybe a rainy day at a beach 1 hr away by bus, not so hot. So instead I stayed home and felt sick then went out to the movies.

Oh boy, was that ever a bad plan. I watched Il y a longtemps que je t'aime (trailer). The movie's great, lovely even, with those long silences and intense characters typical of many European films. It's also depressing and heart-wrenching as hell. I had tears just coursing down my face all throughout. Just, gah. (Also, watched it in French with mostly-useless Dutch subtitles, which means I lost a bit for the first few minutes until my brain found the On Button for French again. *le sigh*)

Quote of the Day: Neil Gaiman

I've been making a list of the things they don't teach you at school. They don't teach you how to love somebody. They don't teach you how to be famous. They don't teach you how to be rich or how to be poor. They don't teach you how to walk away from someone you don't love any longer. They don't teach you how to know what's going on in someone else's mind. They don't teach you what to say to someone who's dying. They don't teach you anything worth knowing.

** Loose translation: "Your heart is for laughter, mine's for crying for you." I'm iffy on the l'ai-t-à construction.***
*** Possibly because it may really be written, l'ai t'à ? From à te pleurer?
