I'm really looking forward to watching Stardust when it comes out. Not just because, having read the book, I know the story's good, or that the actors in it are good (DeNiro, for one, and McKellen as narrator, for another - and OMG Peter O'Toole!), but also because through Neil's blog I've been able to see the film through the whole process of becoming.

In the interest of pimping this film to you all, here's the old webpage for the film, which, in the words of Niel Gaiman, contains: "a few video interviews with me, some answers to Stardust questions, Stardust wallpaper and even a do it yourself Charles Vess colouring thing (which is much too much fun)."

He's not kidding on the digital colouring things.

Today's project: rough and final drafts of emails for profs, requesting yet another batch of letters of rec. *sigh*

ETA: I don't know why, but I seem to be finding inspiration in CD song titles, itching to make a series using them. Angels and Airwave's "We Don't Need to Whisper" gives: Read more... )

which gives me a Firefly, River-centric theme.

Audioslave's "Revelations" gives:Read more... )

which gives me a OUaTiM, Sands-centric** theme.

Then [livejournal.com profile] lacesforalady's challenge of using select bits of Billy Idol's White Wedding:Read more... )

gives me nothing but the urge to write something that fits. (Though possible either without that last one, or with it as an epilogue.) Maybe OUaTiM- or River-musings.

Writing this gorram grovel-letter is bloody hard.

So, instead of writing about stuff I haven't done and am avoiding doing, learn ye what I have done:

Put up two posters, bought yesterday at the 2-for-1 discount price of 6 euros. One is the Bunny Suicide poster, which I've seen in book form. The other is ol' Cap'n Jack. Why Jack? Because I'm a silly little fangirl it was a 2-for-1 deal. Yup. *innocent face*

Also bought The Big Over-Easy by Jasper Fforde. *squee*

Have also made YouTube my bitch. Meaning, I can now download video's direct from YouTube so I can save and hoard them, my precious.

How, you say?

There's a thread with various solutions, but I suceeded with YouTubeX, though Bestube is also good. The files are downloaded as .flv files, so you'll be needing a player. I haven't checked if the multi-use VLC player works (it's what I use for viewing DVD and downloaded files), but KeepVid provides a free download of the FLV player.

So now I'm the proud owner of a copy of wolf4life's Secret Window vid, Shut Me Up. It's honestly one of the best editing I've yet seen. (The song, by Mindless Self Indulgence, is also amazing.)

I feel so ridiculously computer-savvy, even though I'm not.

Oh, and I swear I didn't rig the answers:

Also? Me? A stupid drunk?! Lackadaisical? Inept? Aloof and a wierd-talker, sure, I'm shiny with that, but the other things... Man, that's cruel.
