Where´d it go?
Feb. 22nd, 2006 04:21 pmI´m writing this in the German institute computer lab. I had some stuff on floppy but these computers don´t seem to have the whole "open documents" or "my computer" options, which is very vexing.
Today was funky. The guy who´s turn it was to talk told us about his shark-phobia. One time he was swiming in the ocean and this huge fin swam up to him. He turned tail, not daring to turn his head in fear of seeing a big damn shark head opening its jaws. (Coincidently, he was reading Jaws at the time.) It took him ten minutes of hard swimming to get to the beach. Turns out the fin was a mechanical one, radio controlled by one very messed-up little kid.
He mentioned too how being in a big pool freaked him out, because of the shark possibility.
When he sat back down beside me, I couldn´t help sharing that I had the same kind of fear, only that the shark will swim up under me and bite into my soft little belly. (I hate being abiologist sometimes. Much more informed on shark hunting behaviour than I´d like.)
I blame my brother.
Then I went to a chinese restaurant and had a delightful meal, feeling quite awkward about being in a fancy-ish restaurant (and all alone besides). The tea they served afterwards was delicious: green, with a slight hint of jasmine. And I got a free chupito, which is a spanish word for those tiny little sips of alcohol they offer you after a meal.
Now going to movie place that has original versions. It´s a bit far, but walkable. I should watch "Caché", a french movie, but I want to watch "Underworld 2".
Because it´ll be terrible and awful and riddled with more plot-holes than a seive.
But also because, hey, vamps, werewolves, leather. What´s not to like?
(Let´s hope that Felicity´s Scott says something other than "What the hell is going on?" Not very bright, that boy...)
