Brand spanking new
Jan. 9th, 2006 01:47 pmHappy belated New Year, everyone. Live it up.

Name 5 of life's simple pleasures that you like most, then pick 5 people to do the same.
1. A pot of hot, milky, sweet Early Gray on a cool afternoon.
2. Having a particularly interesting and coherent dream.
3. Reading, particularly a long, well-written fic that´s just what I was looking for or anything which I know will make me laugh, like metaquotes or TPratchett.
4. Listening to a good downpour that goes on all night.
5. A long hot shower with perfect water pressure.
Although right now I could go with a sweater. *shivers*
This article about the ommipotence paradox is interesting.
The Holidays:
In Spain we´re much more into Christmas Eve than Christmas Day (unles you feel like going to church on Christmas Day), so we had our big dinner then. No birds at all, though we had some succulent cigallas, which are like prawns, but bigger and with claws.
Mom and I then left somewhere´s aroung the 28th. We rode the bus all day, going from Burgos to Madrid (2:45 hours), taking a breather, then going on to Granada (5 hours). There we saw the Alhamra, getting in line just past 8 in the monring. It was gorgeous. We also saw the Albaicín, or Jewish quarters, a bunch of churches, the old streets now overrun by Morrocan merchants selling everything from slippers to tea.
We walked a lot, got lost a lot, and had churros (Take flour, boiling water, a pinch of salt and fry it up. Sprinkle with sugar if desired. Then plunge into a cup of hot chocolate so thick you can barely stir the spoon... or ask Wikipedia here), which makes everything better. I can´t rightly remember everything we did right now. I do remember that we went to the mall for our New Years dinner, which we had at the hotel. Though it consisted of olives stuffed with anchovies, tuna in olive oil and vinager, and toast, we were happy. Every morning we had the typical toast with olive oil for breakfast. Delish.
Then on the 2nd we took the bus to Cordoba, where we saw the Mosque/Cathedral again (and I fell in love with it again), the Medina Azahara (Medinat Al-zahra), the huge plaza whose name I can´t recall (damnit) and the beautful and envy-producing Alcazar de los Reyes Christianos (the King´s Palace) which had gorgeous gardens (with huge carp!).
Then we took the bus to Madrid, where we stayed the night. We saw an exhibition of some Ancient Egyptian relics from the Museum of Cairo, a 3d video of the inside of the mummy (narrated by Sir Ian McKellen, except when it´s dubbed, damnit) and a museum of art.
Then we took another bus to Brugos, spent the night, rented a car and went to Villaveta to my Gran´s house. Once there, we found out we had no water because they were fixing some pipes. Later, we had water, but the heating wouldn´t work, so we turned on the oven and electric blankets, over-taxed the electricity for a few pitch-dark moments, and crawled into bed. Then we met up with MCarmen and her hubby who drove us to Barcelona.
And now I´m here.
As I told K in an email, I don´t yet know what I´m going to do in the near future. I´ve got to wait 2 more years before I´m no longer considered "overseas" if I want to study in the UK and not be dirt poor at the same time. I don´t have a place to live yet, or a job, though I might sign up for german at the Goethe despite their ridiculous prices (as in, too much).
I can´t believe it´s been 8 months since I´ve graduated. For 7 of those months, I´ve done zilch. (There´s that TESL course I took, which is not proving useful, since no langauge centres have called yet).
PS: Review are indeed like sex. I ain´t gettin´ any. *pout*
