Written last night.

Over this weekend I’ve given my rented room a “best by” date. I called the land-lady and told her I’m be out be the end of the month. She’s keeping the deposit instead of my paying this month, and I’ll pay an estimate – obviously conservative – of the remaining expenses. The result is that I’m a bit more obsessed with packing than I was before. Although, I got blind-sided last night with the realization that I don’t actually need to keep my 3 GRE preparation books. (Which are, by the way, the size of small elephants.) Except not they’re all packed and re-packed and if I have to look at that box one more time I’ll scream.

I realize I haven’t been posting lately, although I also realize that the folks who’d be concerned or interested over on the FList are currently off the internet. (Fools.) How have I been spending my time, you ask, weeks later when you, the Reader, note this trend.

Today I watched Shrek the Third, which was amusing but little else. I couldn’t even enjoy Puss in Boots because every time he spoke I got a mental image of Antonio Banderas taping it in studio. Why? As if I knew. Then I wandered around the old district (Barrio Gotico), managed to slip under the free visiting hours and into the cathedral. Then I had a deliscious Cola-flavoured Calipo (i.e. polo ice-cream, think Mr Freezie in a carton cone instead of “I likes cutting lips” plastic) and skimmed through the DVD’s and CD’s at the FNAC (which sells everything in the print, entertainment and electronic departments). I didn’t see any of the films on my “To Buy When Not Dirt Poor” list, though there were some interesting one on the “To Rent” list. I did, however, gleefully purchase Mika’s Life in Cartoon Motion. :D

The weekend before last I was invited by my surrogate-Barcelona-family (aka. Boss’s family, which is Mom’s School Friend’s family) to Vinaroz. We went with MCarmen’s sister and her beau. It was absolutely delightful in that it was al sleep in, loll around on the beach, lunch, napity nap, walk along the beach path, sleep, repeat.

Over the past few weeks I’d started rewatching Queer as Folk, but since I lent the DVD’s to Christina (MCarmen’s youngest daughter), I’m a bit stumped on what to watch before sleep overtakes me. Yesterday it was 28 Days Later’s turn – although it wasn’t completely wonderful because of a few missing scenes I’ll have to work on – and the days before that it was Dr Who, but there’s no new stuff on YouTube yet.

I’m being a really bad fanfic writer, in that I haven’t written anything in ages. My beta’s suggested a few things for Chapter 9, which never felt complete to me. I’m thinking about writing, is that enough for now?

Instead, I’m getting prompty with CD track listings. Fie! Of late, there’s some CD called “My Bloody Valentine” and another called “Birds in the Water” or somesuch. And I’ve got the Manic Street Preachers down for a CD too.

Though this morning, after my little trip to the Ministry of Education – where they finally separated the departments so there’s 2 offices, University- and Non-Uni-related, so there’s less of a line – I spent it packaging doctor blades. (Think long, inch-wide flat stips of metal stuffed into equally long and narrow plastic sheathes.) It was just me that morning and let me tell you, doing that for some 4 hours straight? Dull, dull, dull. So after catching up on my FList, I watched the Radical Alternative Ending to 28 Days Later - awesome, btw, except for the incredibly faulting science** and Eddie Izzard until I cried with laughter. *huggles Eddie*

You know, for some reason I think I’m wandering into a Robert Carlyle phase. Hmm… I mean, I loved him in Full Monty - he seems to do the desperate guilt thing rather well – though I was suitably disturbed by him in Trainspotting. Ravenous was Ravenous, what can I say?*** I may have seen him in some other films, apart from the 0.5 seconds of that Bond movie… But now it’s like I’ve got a little “Investigate Further” button, and it’s looking mighty tempting. Damn those stunning few scenes and wasted character in 28 Weeks Later! Damn him! I may even have to resort to fanfic!**** And damn you, Mr Carlyle, for being so good at what you do.

** Some of which they realize. The thing they don’t mention is that even if it was possible to remove all of the blood, the reason it’s an infection is that it goes from the blood to the cells, maybe even crossing the blood-brain barrier. Seriously, if a full blood-transfusion could reverse a blood-borne infection, HIV would be history.
*** Apart from, of course, “He was licking me!”
**** It’s actually been ages since I’ve read fanfic. I might even de-friend [livejournal.com profile] rayne_shippers, ‘cause I’m always skipping its posts. I have a few fics – I can’t remember which – I would like to save the end of. Lately, however, I haven’t felt like reading fic, which is a first in, ooh...years?
