Have you seen my ghost?*

Reading Blueprint For a Sutainable Economy by DPearce & EBBarbier (2000) and once again, a pet peeve gets petted. "Latin America and the Carribean". I hate it when people use "Latin America" to mean "Counties in the Americas not Canada or USA" or "Countries of Central and South America". I'd like to point out that North America has 43 countries, not 2. South America has 14 countries. Also, not all of these countries are ex-colonies of Spain and Portugal, or whatever it is that people consider makes a country "Latin". What the hell does that mean, anyway? Latin is a way old and dead language that forms one of the roots of a large group of languages. But you'd never call a Frenchman "Latin". (If you do, then I just plain give up on the whole thing. Let's just create a Latin Europe while we're at it.)

In today's emotional topography, I was skirting the great Marsh of Suck** and could see, far in the distance, the Pit of Blah. Luckily, whilst striding through the Woods of Worry, I failed to attract the attention of a flock of Dodos of Doom - though there were near enough to be heard, cooing softly, "Dooooom. Doo-wooom. Doomanu, doomanu. Doooom."***

So what did I do? I was rebellious and irresponsible and acted in direct opposition to my Mother's desires. Meaning, I bought shit.

Stick-thing is an inscence holder.

Well, most of these purchases are from yesterday. However, I did have dinner at the cafeteria, and bought an ice cream to boot - despite having had one last week Tuesday. And I bought glow-in-the-dark stars. Because.

I may as well jump into the Pit with a shovel, the way I'm going.

** Alliteration fails me. Quicksand of Suck? Sea of Suck? But it wouldn't suck then, just...drown.
*** The Dodos of Doom are really just the dodos in Ice Age, flocking around the hero's chanting, "Doom on you!" They seemed like an apt emotional!metaphor.

I just had to have the hoodie. Rockets, robots and planets? What's not to love, I ask?!?

And a little "horray" at the compliment. I can't see the smoking hotness, just the bedraggled hair. But yays anyway!

Horray for new stuff!
Also, I would go with the Quicksand of Suck. Its the sort of thing that, once trapped in it and starting to sink, one can't help but chuckle at the irony of words.

Yeah, Quicksand sounds better than Marsh...

You know, when people say buying stuff makes 'em happy - I can see why. Le squee XD
